UFC champion Conor McGregor faces legendary American boxer Floyd Mayweather
in Las Vegas on 26 August in a boxing match that could earn both men $100m.
Mayweather, 40, has won all 49 of his professional bouts, but has not boxed
since September 2015 and came out of retirement to fight the Irishman. Mayweather is looking forward to finish the fight early, being offensive to his opponent. He also said he will be doing his “homework” on McGregor, a two-weight world champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
“It’s not really watching fight tapes, it’s about knowing
the person you’re facing across the ring from you,” added Mayweather.
In the other side McGregor is still young, hungry and very confident of himself. McGregor is not a boxer, he is a “cage fighter”. McGregor, 29, said that he sees a man scared in Mayweather, who also said that he knows Mayweather isn’t going to keep coming forward in the fight because he is a defensive boxer, and if this happens is going to be a quick night for him. The UFC champion, who has never boxed professionally, is due to face Mayweather in a 12-round super welterweight bout.
One reason that makes this a tremendous fight is the enormous popularity of McGregor, and it was fan interest in the fight between the UFC star and Mayweather that led to it being arranged.
